Biography

Beta Bajgart (b. 1975) is a Dublin based Czech visual artist. Her work engages with communities through a variety of media - photography, films and printed media, campaigns and collaborations. Beta's most recent work is a convergence of art and visual archiving, the aim of which is to empower women and examine ourselves and our place in modern society. Beta is also the author of A Woman’s Work, a project following the narrative of women who have chosen a career path in unusual and predominantly male professions.

Beta's work received an award by the Network Ireland business organisation in the Art Category, resulting in a commission from Diageo, to create a collection of photographs celebrating women working for the company internationally, on different levels. Beta became increasingly passionate about this topic. A Woman's Work

A Woman’s Work sits at the convergence of art and visual archiving. It is aimed to empower women while simultaneously examining ourselves and our place in modern society. Through A Woman’s Work, Bajgart captured the stories of 60 women who have chosen a career path in unusual and predominantly male professions. The work made her mindful of ongoing gender stereotypes in society and the need to prevent them, by educating our children. Bajgart wishes to keep strengthening the conversations about the way women are choosing their professional careers and about their role in the community. She strongly believes that documenting women who have challenged their inner strength to develop their talents and share their stories through visual media, is a way to help, inspire, nurture and educate the whole society.
