David Drake

With 38 years experience as a curator, writer and producer, David Drake has been Director of Ffotogallery, the national development agency for photography in Wales, since 2009. He has initiated two pan-European cooperation projects, European Prospects and A Woman’s Work. He is also Founding Director of Diffusion - Cardiff International Festival, which in 2021 stages its fifth biennial edition, and was Project Director for Wales’ pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2015. Latterly, he was commissioned by the British Council to curate a major exhibition, The Place I Call Home, which toured to six countries in the Middle East and four UK venues in 2019/20. In 2017/18, Ffotogallery collaborated with the Nazar Foundation on a project called Dreamtigers, as part of the UK-India programme. The successor programme involves a partnership with Chennai Photo Biennale and is being realised in 2020/21.
