Cork Film Festival 2017

Festivals, Open calls | 10 November 2017 - 19 November 2017

IRELAND’S OLDEST FILM FESTIVAL AND CORK’S FLAGSHIP ANNUAL CULTURAL EVENT, THE CORK FILM FESTIVAL

REGULAR DEADLINE: June 24, 2017
LATE DEADLINE: July 15, 2017

The Festival is the true home of film in Cork; we are dedicated to showcasing a richly diverse programme of the very best Irish, independent, and international cinema.
Film has never been so important – arguably contemporary culture’s most relevant, popular and influential art form and one of the most powerful vehicles we have to understand other cultures. Cork Film Festival champions this, embracing film in its widest form, and celebrating film, music and ideas. As well as playing a rich selection of the best of contemporary world cinema, the Festival has a lively and varied music on film programme, and a timely event series which uses films to explore some of the burning issues of our time.
The Festival operates out of The Everyman, the Triskel Christchurch, and the Gate Cinema. In 2016 there will be over 200 films screened – including more than 70 features, 52 documentaries and over 100 shorts, from 55 countries. Competition includes awards for features, shorts and documentaries, with prizes totalling €7,500. For over 80% of the film presented, the Festival is the only chance to see them on the big screen, in Cork.
