On its 10th call for submission, BMW Residency gives each year a carte blanche to an emerging contemporary talent presenting a project dedicated to photographic innovation, research and experimentation.

The jury is made up of Maryse Bataillard (BMW France Sponsorship Manage), Nathalie Berriat (Director of Gobelins École de l'Image), François Cheval (Artistic Director of the Residence), Hervé Digne (collector, Chantal Nedjib, consultant in images), Sam Stourdzé (director of the Rencontres d'Arles), Christophe Wiesner (artistic director of Paris Photo); will select the winner in May 2020. The winner will have the opportunity to spend three months of residency at Gobelins school of images, under the artistic direction of François Cheval and with the technical and human assistance of Gobelins.

BMW partner of the Rencontres d'Arles and Paris Photo will produce the personal exhibition of the winner for these two major photography events in France, this project will also be the subject of an edition.

Your project must be:

  • Unpublished.
  • Exclusive for BMW.
  • Realizable during the 3 months of Residence.

Your prize will include:

  • A grant of € 8,000 for the winner.
  • The production of a personal exhibition integrated into the Rencontres d'Arles and Paris Photo program.
  • A set of prints from the photographs exhibited for the winner.
  • The edition of a book illustrating the work carried out during the BMW Residence.
  • The support of François Cheval , artistic director.
  • A technical assistance, human teachers and students of Gobelins.
  • A technical support at GOBELINS , School of Image.
  • The BMW team throughout the residence for support, communication and events.
